Mission Statement

Our mission at One Memphis is to unite Memphis through meaningful relationships, intentional leadership, and faith-driven action—creating safer, stronger communities, one person and one family at a time. We are dedicated to building up individuals, nurturing families, and empowering neighborhoods so that Memphis can thrive as a city marked by unity, compassion, and hope.

Our Story

One Memphis began as a visionary response to a citywide crisis. When Mayor Jim Strickland called on Memphis to come together against violence, co-pastors Lorre and her husband were moved by the Spirit to take action—not just for some of Memphis, but for every community, every neighbor. They brought together politicians, local officials, church leaders, and pastors for a citywide prayer summit, launching a grassroots movement for unity and healing.

Since that first summit in 2021, One Memphis has grown into a dynamic community-building platform grounded in faith, prayer, and collaboration. Our foundation is simple but powerful: when we build strong people, those people strengthen their families, and together, families help build safer, more vibrant communities.

One Memphis is committed to:

  • Uniting leaders from every sector to work together for the common good.
  • Fostering relationships across divides—bringing together people from all backgrounds.
  • Creating programs for boys, girls, and women that develop character, practical skills, and self-worth.
  • Connecting our youth with mentors and local professionals so they can discover their purpose and potential.
  • Offering outreach and volunteer opportunities to serve Memphis in times of need.

We believe everyone has a role in making Memphis stronger—from children to city leaders, from teachers and business professionals to faith communities. In all we do, we rely on faith and the conviction that prayer and action, together, will help Memphis rise as one united city.

At One Memphis, you are not just a bystander—you’re a builder of hope and unity. Join us, and help write the next chapter for our city.

"We must all learn to live together as brothers. Or we will all perish together as fools. We are tied together in the single garment of destiny, caught in an inescapable network of mutuality."

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

“It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.”

Frederick Douglass

“If we’re willing to work for it, and fight for it, and believe in it, then I’m absolutely confident that generations from now, we will continue our long journey toward a better, brighter future for our families, and for our children.”

Barack Obama

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’”

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

“Each person must live their life as a model for others.”

Rosa Parks

“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”

Maya Angelou

“If not us, then who? If not now, then when?”

John Lewis
